GENERAL INFORMATION
- The camera can record about 1-1/2 to 2 hours on a fully charged battery at 1080p30 with the display and WiFi off.
- Additional batteries and external single- and dual-battery chargers are available separately.
- To change the battery, open the battery compartment door on the bottom of the camera by sliding the tab and lifting up on the door. Remove the existing battery by pulling up on the battery strap. Install a freshly charged battery and push it all the way down into the compartment. Make sure the tab is up and the battery contacts line up with those in the bottom of the compartment. Replace the compartment door. For convenience, leave the battery tab sticking out when you replace the battery compartment door. This makes it easier to open.
I hope you enjoyed this manual. Do not forget to check full review of SJ4000 and video review for more information on this camera. For those of you who prefer printed document, you are free to download this manual in PDF. All other action cameras including later releases of SJCAM models can be found on this page.

Hi everybody. This is TeriTerryTarry. My thanks to Pavle for putting together this wonderful online manual for the SJ4000 Wi-Fi. Let me say he is being rather generous when he says I wrote the manual. He offered guidance throughout the process of transforming what started as personal manual into some thing he could publish on his website. He even wrote an entire section of the manual. Many contributions also came from members at the Dash Cam Talk website who answered questions I posted there. https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/ My special thanks also go out to AngryItalianMan, publisher of the YouTube channel of the same name. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-YGEwh0i_8rCXOIf7IHFTQ I pestered him constantly for his input when I first bought the camera. As a newbie, all these people were a tremendous help. Thanks again to Pavle and everybody else.
Thank you for your contribution TeriTerryTarry. Do you know why the illustrations are not included as they are on this website?
You’re welcome LB. The PDF manual began as a series of notes I prepared personally to keep track of things as I discovered them while operating the camera. As such I always had the camera in front of me. I turned those notes into the manual but I’m such a newbie that while I can type a document I don’t really know how to properly include illustrations or photos. Fortunately Pavle’s photos go a long way towards remedying that shortcoming.
I hope that clarifies things for you and I truly hope the online guide combined with the manual will prove to be helpful for you.
Cheers 🙂
Hi LB. I decided to face up to the challenge of including photographs in the PDF manual so please find Revision 3.1 of the manual now available for download. There are many photos that should give more clarity to the words. 🙂
Hi,
I am using the Sj4000 in a race car and cannot seem to prevent the recording from using multiple videos instead of one longer one, also there is an issue with a white glare that is so bad I can only see whats happening inside the car (nothing through the windscreen or in open wheel nothing is recorded. I suspect its caused by sunlight but cannot correct same.
Hi Mike,
To record one long video instead of multiple short ones try setting the Cyclic Record to Off. At least that’s what it’s called on my older SJ4000 (might be different with latest firmware) and it’s on Page 1 of the menu.
Regarding the white glare, have you tried recording in locations other than the car to verify if it’s windscreen glare or a general problem? Try that first and see what happens.
Cheers 🙂
Thanks so much! The official manual is horrible and this is exactly what I need.
Hi , how do you delete protected pictures and videos please?
Thanks
Suzee
Hi Suzee. The only way to delete protected videos is to format the memory card. You can do so by selecting Format from Page 6 of the Setup menu or by formatting the memory card using your computer. I’m not sure how one creates protected photos but formatting the memory card will delete all files.
I hope that helps.
no this is not true, If you want to delete protected file you do not need to format memory card, just connect camera to PC and delete file in the PC.
I should clarify that Spartan is correct. You can also delete protected files by deleting them from the memory card using your computer. It is only when you want to delete them using the camera only that you must select Format from the Menu settings. Apologies to Suzee and thanks to Spartan.
Cheers 🙂
Hi
On my m10 i’ve found you can scroll through the menu items to “delete” then press ok- you get a pop up to confirm “delete current item” – if you ok again the last item you were viewing- video or still will be deleted.
Mike
Hi Teri
Has anyone else had an issue with overheating.. I was trying to watch a video over wifi on my iPad.. an orange play icon appeared on the scam but ports got too hot to touch and the only way to switch off was to remove the battery
Hi Paul. Personally I haven’t had a problem with my cameras overheating when used alone or connected over Wi-Fi though they can get quite warm. I did read once about an instance of overheating while using Wi-Fi. I haven’t heard any reports of overheating with the result that the camera could only be turned off by removing the battery. I do know of three instances, myself included, where the camera became damaged due to severe overheating while connected to an AC adapter. The ports always seem to be hottest because they’re the only exposed metal bits on the camera.
I must admit I’m confused by the scenario you described. You can’t watch a video on a smart device directly from the camera. The video file needs to be downloaded from the camera before you can view it on your device. But you can watch a live view from the camera on your iPad while recording a video or taking pictures. The orange exterior light, not an on-screen icon, would indeed indicate that the camera and your iPad are connected via Wi-Fi.
I hope that helps. Happy New Year and cheers 🙂
Hi. I recently purchased one of these but cannot find anywhere an answer as to why the amber light illuminates when I turn the camera off discharging the battery overnight. Has anyone else come across this.
I contacted the seller who could only suggest returning the item and asking for a refund however I really like the camera and am looking for a solution to the problem other than removing the battery after charging.
Any suggestions?
I am really not sure, it can be a battery/charging issue. You can ask seller to send you a spare battery to try. Also contact manufacturer directly to see what they have to say.
Hi Thanks. It’s not so much a battery charging issue. I can charge the battery fine but when I turn the camera off for storage the amber light comes on and the battery then gets used up by the light being permanently on whilst the camera is turned off. I have sent an email to SJ Cam and the seller has refunded me after returning the camera but I like the camera and and buy another. Just wanted to see if anyone else had seen this problem when they turn the camera off and then the amber light runs the battery down requiring it to be re-charged again
I have an SJ4000, when I am recording video it lasts for about 10 minutes and starts a new file. The cyclic record is set to zero. I would like to be able to have the whole video in one file. Any ideas?
This is something that memory card does, it separates larger files into small pieces. I recommend you to contact SJCAM directly and ask if they tested particular cards that allow larger file recording. It has nothing to do with a camera if loop recording is turned off.
OK thanks I will try that.
Hi any one know why the camera deletes the videos on it own come up fault message then deletes videos?
First time I heard of such issue, make sure you’re using microsd class 10 memory card from reputable brands, as mentioned in the manual.
Hi I have downloaded app and found it in settings to turn on wifi on smartphone and all worked smoothly, now When I really want to use it I cannot find it in settings on my smartphone anymore to connect to wifi, and ideas
It’s difficult to say because it sounds like a smartphone issue rather than a camera issue. I’m not entirely sure why the SJCam app would be found in your phone’s settings. It should be an app like any other with an icon just like the rest. One thing I’ll suggest is that you try to download the app to your smartphone again.
I hope that helps 🙂
Teri
Hi, I saw another video (from https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/sjcam-m10-short-review.8923/ ), I understand that the only way to know if M10 is recording is by looking at the top led light. There is nothing on screen that tells you if it is recording now. Do you know is it still the case now? It is hard to see the top led light because the cam is mounted on my car as I am using it as dash cam.
Thanks
Hi Teri
Im a little puzzled by the color choice from this little fellow. I record backgammon games and my board has so nice colors but sjcam 4000 have a diffrent picture = not the true colors of my board. Now i tried all adjustments etc but same result..it is like this little cam is “colorblind” ..any hints?
btw thanks for the manual..sjcam does not do a good job in the manual that comes with the cam.
best regards
mic
I’ll jump in for this one.
Except for white balance setup, there is little you can do when it comes to color. It’s just the way image sensor the camera has works.
I can only suggest you to try to learn color-grading in post production, there are tons of tutorials and software you can try, just google a bit.
I recently picked up the SJ4000 and have somehow activated some sort of security setting. When I turn it on it defaults to video mode. When I press the mode button it does not change modes it just displays a little key in the upper left corner of the screen. What are the button combinations to shut this off. Or is there a combination of buttons to press to revert the ubit back to its factory settings?
Whenever you turn on the SJ4000 it defaults to Record Mode. The little key icon indicates the video is protected from being deleted when you’re deleting files. The only way to delete a protected video is by formatting the memory card in the camera or by using your computer to delete memory card files as you would normally. However, there should be nothing to prevent you from advancing from Record Mode to Photo Mode to Playback Mode to the Setup Menu. Once you’re on Page 6 of the Setup Menu you can choose Format to delete all files on the memory card or you can choose Default Setting which returns all settings to their default values.
I hope that helps.
I was looking at the image size (quality) what you think is better?
12M 3M 2MHD…? i read in one site that the “quality” over the 3M can’t be noticed.
sorry for the bad english…
The maximum image size without interpolation is 3MP for the SJ4000. Larger images are resized by interpolation. This article http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/image-interpolation.htm by Cambridge in Colour does a good job of explaining interpolation in layman’s terms. With the SJ4000 you gain nothing by setting the image size larger than 3MP.
I have recently bought an SJCAM SJ4000. I realized the sound quality would not be great, but I thought it would be adequate and certainly considerably better than I have experienced with my camera. Without the waterproof housing, someone talking at about 1 m distance is virtually inaudible. Speaking loudly a few cm from the camera begins to reach a reasonable volume. I accept this is a sports camera and sound is not the main priority but sometimes I will want to use it without the case on and get some noises to accompany the video. Otherwise, the camera seems fine.
I have checked the authenticity of the number code (on the box the camera came in) on the SJCAM website and it is a genuine SJCAM product. On the ‘Version’ page in the settings on the camera, it gives:
Model: SJ4000
Version: V1.0
Date: 19:31:25 [this seems very odd – not any date I understand!!]
Firm: SJCAM
So is my experience normal for this camera, or is there something wrong with it or the firmware? (I don’t want to start pulling the camera apart to modify the microphone input, as I see some have done.) Many thanks for any help.
Hi,
My SJ4000 (wifi version bought last year) battery won’t charge when used as a dash cam. It works ok but whenever I take it out of the car to use it – flat as a pancake. it charges up on my pc or phone charger, but as soon as I put it back in the car on the cigarette socket it runs flat.
Do they all do this? Would a firmware update fix this? Which is the genuine link, please, as there seems to be more than one site offering updates!?
Hi Paul. A few things come to mind.
1. Do you have Car Mode turned on?
2. Are you sure your 12V adapter is working?
3. Have you tried a different cable?
4. Are you sure the 12V outlet is working?
These might be good first steps to troubleshoot this problem. I hope it helps 🙂
Hi great job you done with manual thanks. The SJcam issue new firmware version 1,3 and menu is changed a lot some option are added some disappeared . New is for example FOV mode where you can change the lens angle from regular (is OFF ) wide , middle ,narrow and on screen right lower corner you will have special icon showing in which mode of angle lens is . I think it is time to make new manual :))))
Good luck
Any luck finding somewhere that shows all the new settings?
It seems all the sites I look at (this one included) are all out of date showing the old software.. with no reviews of the new software.
Hi..
I have an sj4000 and it suddenly stopped working after I zeroed its battery.. After charging i can’t seem to make it work. It just shows the battery icon charging even after I take the charger off.. Tried to push mode and ok bottom but does nothing. I can only turn it off and on.. After the sjcam logo is the battery charging icon again.
What to do?
Hi Pulse. One zero-cost solution would be to try a firmware update. A low-cost option would be to buy a new battery. They’re pretty cheap and available from a number of websites. Beyond that I’m not sure what to do. Try either of those and see what happens. Cheers 🙂
4000 manual says; – Press the Mode button while recording to protect a video from accidental deletion. A key
icon appears on the display.
But when i do it, take a screen shot at my 5000X.
So how can i protect a file with my 5000X.
SJCAM 4000 was working, but now the screen shows the view through the camera but
there are no icons
The mode button (top) has no effect.
The zoom buttons have no effect
This happened after it had been connected as mass storage to computer. Watched the video I had just made. Wanted to eject the mass storage. Computer warned to wait until process finished, There was no process running. I restarted the video and stopped it, then the computer allowed the mass storage to be ejected. From then on no icons.
I have removed and replaced the battery. No effect
Hi Mia Suku. The Mode button is actually the front button, not the top button. After you turn on the camera are you able to use the mode button to advance to the setup menu? If yes, try scrolling through the menu using the Up/Down buttons on the side of the camera. If that works go to Format on the menu and format your memory card.
If you’re able to navigate the menu you can also check if OSD Mode is on or off. If off then you won’t see any icons on the display so try turning it on.
Also have you verified that you have a genuine SJCam product? If you still have the box the you can enter the code found under the scratch-off into the SJCam Security Check web page, http://sjcamhd.com/safe/.
I hope you can get it working again. Best of luck 🙂
i have sj4000. bought it new. when i plug in the usb cable i dont get the screen about mass storage. i dont see the camera in “my computer.” ive reset, and took the battery out, formated the sd card. nothing. im open to suggestions.
thanks for the help.
Hi Michael. Does the camera turn on at all?
Also have you verified that you have a genuine SJCam product?
Let me know. Cheers 🙂
Anyone noticed that face detection and anti shake have gone from the Menus?. Also picture quality i think has dropped.
Hi, I’ve just bought 4000WIFI, and videos from my bike ride are very shaky. When googling whats wrong, I came across this anti-shaking function, bud I’ve just found out it is missing in the menu. Do you know what happened? How to stabilise video?? Thanks for suggestions
Hi Tomo and Daniel,
I haven’t seen the menus on the latest models of SJCams but I can tell you that anti-shake only works with photos, not videos. To smooth out videos you would need something like gyro stabilization, a feature not offered on the basic SJ4000 cameras. Cheers 🙂
Hi everyone!
I purchased the SJ5000 and the LCD screen stopped working out of nowhere. The camera still works but I can’t see what I’m doing with the screen.
2nd question. I am uploading the videos from my SAMSUNG micro sd onto my computer and i noticed that all the videos that I filmed at first have been deleted automatically? Is it possible that I used up all the space and the new videos were recorded and old videos deleted to add space?
Thanks
Hello, when i start recording a video, the camera turns off and turns on, but i cant record annything…
What cna i do ?
Hi Lancelot. So you can turn on the camera, is that correct? After you turn it on the first mode to appear should be the Record Mode (or Video Lapse Mode if turned on). When you press the top button does the camera begin recording?
Let me know. Cheers 🙂
Can you tell me the real difference between “capture” and “video [time] lapse”?
I know how to do “capture” and turn those individual jpgs into a “time lapse” video, but does “video lapse” do the same thing? And what are the specific steps to use “video lapse”?
Thanks for any help you can lend. This is the only site that’s offered any sense to this camera and I owe you a great deal of thanks for reducing my blood pressure!
Hi Gary. You’re exactly correct about Video Lapse. It’s a series of captures that the camera turns into a time lapse video for you. To use Video Lapse go to the Video Lapse menu selection on page 1 of the Setup Menu and select your preferred time interval. When you return to Record Mode the camera will be in Video Lapse record mode. Press the OK button to begin shooting, press again to stop. When you go to Playback Mode your video lapse recording will appear as a video. Press the OK button to play it back as a time lapse video.
I hope that helps. Cheers! 🙂
Hey guys. Here’s a link to the new software manual for the sjcam sj4000 including an explanation of what the new settings mean (FOV/Underwater ect)
https://sjcamsupport.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/9000082352-new-updated-sjcam-sj4000-wifi-and-non-wifi-manual-2016-is-now-available-
Hi….I viewed the pictures in my sjcsm4000 using usbcord…after unplugging the usbcord I tried to view the pics in the sjcam4000 but there is “NO FILE” appeared on the screen..how can I view again the pics in the sjcam?
Hi virgie. Sorry for the late reply. I wonder if it’s possible that you had selected the “Delete after downloading” or similar option on you computer when you transferred the files. I can do this on my Windows 7 computer. I’ll assume that you successfully transferred the files to your computer so they’re stored there. It’s simple enough to transfer the files back to the memory card same as you would transfer any video or photo files to a storage device. You could then view them again using the camera.
I hope that helps. Cheers 🙂
I have the same issue where the sj cam says “no file” when trying playback but the videos show up when viewed on my laptop, did you find a fix?
Hi Sean,
Have you find a solution? I have the same problem since few day with a M20 camera
How do you set the date and time on this camera
Hi Murray,
I’m not sure which camera model you’re referring to but if you have a WiFi version then the easiest way to set the exact date and time is to connect to the app installed on your smart device. The camera automatically detects the current date and time and resets itself accordingly. The other way would be to find “Date/Time” in the Setup Menu, select it and make the changes there. This method will work for any version. Good luck 🙂
Hi purchased SJCAM 4000 wi fi recently . When I turn it on via the mode button I get the sjcam screen with the picture of a small camera, it then goes to a screen showing a green battery, if I then press the mode button again it then goes to the video mode screen but the battery icon has a small plug within it . This is not plugged into any device at the time. It then ocassionaly turns it’s self off for no reason ? Every now and again it will behave properly showing the initial screen then the video mode screen with a battery with green segments within it. Have you any idea how to sort this please.
Hi Neil,
Some of the screens and behaviors you describe I might expect if the camera was plugged into an adapter but I can’t explain them otherwise. A couple of things come to mind. First, have you verified that you have a genuine SJCam using the verification process on the SJCam website? http://sjcamhd.com/safe/
Second, you could try a firmware update to ensure you have the latest version. Beyond these suggestions I’m not sure what to tell you. I hope they help. Cheers 🙂
Thanks yes confirmed genuine by numbers on the box also tried a latest firmware update, but still the same ?.
Hi Neil,
I’m sorry to hear that neither of my suggestions helped. I can only speculate, sadly, that the camera is simply defective. I regret that my experience with SJCam indicates that’s a distinct possibility. If it’s still in warranty and you bought it from a vendor with a good return policy then you might think about returning it. If you’re required to ship it back to China for exchange, don’t bother. You’ll be better off with a new camera. The only other idea I have is that you might try a new battery. SJCam batteries are cheap and widely available from a number of online sellers. Best of luck 🙂
Hello my name is Jason, I have had my SJ4000 wifi for a few weeks and purchased it for the holiday and have enjoyed using it until yesterday when it stared to freeze after recording and won’t do anything even turn off! Pulling the battery was the only way.
It turns on OK, goes through the modes and menu. Once you record something (let’s just say a minutes worth), then stop it, the red counter remains in the corner with the amount you recorded. Yon can’t change mode or turn off! I’ve left it until screen goes black and pressed a button to bring it back up, but no change?
Any advice please, I would appreciate it.
Thanks jason
It’s only records for 37 seconds and the camera freezes!!!!!
Can’t re-record, change mode or turn off?
Help please??
Hi Jason,
I’m not sure which SJCam camera you have but it might be a problem with the memory card. Try a new speed class 10 name brand memory card. You could also check to be sure you have the latest firmware. Beyond those suggestions I’m not sure what else might be causing the problem. 🙁
Yes it was the memory card…..I bought another.
Anyone know if it is possible to remove a date stamp from a video that is already recorded? (SJ4000)
Hi Reuben,
I’m not sure if video editing programs have that capability or not. As far as the camera goes, once you’ve recorded with the date stamp there are no menu settings on the camera to delete it after the fact. Cheers 🙂
How to fix the camera when the amber light and red light while charging? Thanks !!!
Hi Kyen,
On my Sj4000 WiFi the red and amber lights came on only when I was using a defective US-spec AC adapter and the camera severely overheated while charging. I don’t know what type of charger you’re using so I can’t precisely diagnose your problem but I recommend extreme caution. Check to make sure your camera and adapter are not overheating and see if the battery is actually recharging. If anything is getting too hot, STOP IMMEDIATELY due to risk of fire. Please let me know what happens. I’m very curious about this issue. Thanks 🙂
Hi can you please tell me why my sj4000 screen turns off after 10seconds?
This is my second camera and my first stayed on all the time.?..
I would like mine to stay on to see what I’m recording….
Hi Mark. Have you checked the Screensavers setting in the Setup Menu? If you select “Off” it actually means the screen stays on whenever the camera is on. Let me know if that helps. 🙂
Hi,
i have a problem with my new cam. It doesn’t record and show a yellow point blinking. It was recording fine the first few days. Anybody an idea?
Thank you for you help
Hi
I have a SJ4000 camera but I have a problem: videos record automatically. So whenever I turn the camera on, it automatically goes to “video recording mode” and start recording when I haven’t pressed any button. Also, each time I stop the video recording, another video starts recording automatically…and so on! Basically, the only way to stop the video recording is to turn the camera off. Does anyone know how this problem can be solved?
I thank you very much for your help
Try to turn off motion detection.
I have the same problem… and for that I think I can’t update the firmware… any time torn on recording automatic videos… please let me know if I need to change the cam… I buyed today…pleas help!
Have you turned off option called motion detection inside the camera?
Thank you so much for this manual, I’d be lost without it. I appreciate the time and effort that has gone into producing such a comprehensive document, so once again, thank you!
Hello. Thanks for the online manual. how do you zoom with the sj5000x? i tried holding and/or pressing the up button but nothing happens. I have updated the firmware to the 1.46.
Hi, i wonder if you could help, i Can connect my iphone wirelessly to the camera, but am unable to see anything On the sJ cam App. Have also tried with an android phone,
Regards
Gary
how long does 1 battery last when recording 1080 video? and is there a way to tell how much memory is used when outdoors with my motorcycle recording video? I want to mount the camera near the front wheel of my motorcycle and wouldn’t be able to see when the memory card is full. on a 32GB SanDisk how long can I shoot videos?
Everything works but once the video is recorded on iPad or iPhone I can’t play it back except for the camera which plays back. The only icon that showson iPad or iPhone is a camera logo
There is no play or stop logo appearing
I am 71 and maybe I am missing something Wondering if you could help
Terry
Perhaps your iPhone does not support the format/resolution, which would be strange. You should contact manufacturer for direct support to see what’s the issue.
The phone manufacture or the camera manufacture
Thanks for your reply
Camera manufacturer.
Hi, i just got mine Oct 2016. SJ4000. However, when charging in car while in use, it is showing mass storage /PC . it is detecting the cable as PC instead of charger. please help.
That’s strange, have you turned car camera option ON inside the settings?
how to delete protected video in sj4000?
hi can i charge the battery with a regular phone charger? i just bought a sjcam4000 wifi. thanx.
I have the LD4000 Lightdow HD DV and am using a 32 gb memory card. When the card gets full the recording stops and the message “card full” appears. Is there a setting for loop recording when the card is full it will overwrite and continue to record?
That appears a knock off or re-brand camera from another company, so I’m not sure how it operates. You should contact the company behind LD4000 for support, since it’s not an SJCAM product we covered in this manual.
Hi Great Manual. Do you think my sjcam 4000 is broken? when i turn it on it just gives me a view no menu option when i click the mode it won’t change the mode to camera or record.
Thank you in advance.
What have you done to make it behave like that? Have you done firmware upgrades, dropped it or anything?
Hi, Is there any way of enabling videos to be recorded when connected via HDMI? I bought the camera to fly on a DJI drone, to provide real-time video to the pilot on the ground. This it does successfully but, because it is connected to the drone system via an HDMI cable, I have discovered it is not possible to record video during a flight. This is a huge and unwelcome drawback and it’s looking like I’ll have to purchase a different camera.
At the time this manual was written, recording videos was disabled while connected via HDMI. You can check with SJCam support for more information.
Hi, I have an SJ400 version N20140929V01 and it does not give me the option of time lapse recording. Is there any way to upgrade the software to make it possible for me to capture time-lapse videos?
Upgrading firmware can add such feature.
Thanks, the manual is very helpful.
Do you have any info on what temperatures the SJ4000 operates under?
Thinking of the low end, how it would fare outdoors in snowy weather?
Thanks again!
hi , just wonder if anyone here encounter the same problem with me i cant record video with my sjcam4000 the second time i used it, i think it became a app independent it can only record video using the app, how can i solve the problem? thanks everyone have a good day

Hi everyone I have a SJ4000wifi that worked perfect for 2 months. It has mainly been used as a car camera. Recently the screen went white and flickered and now the blue light and the lightvon thescreencflashes when in video mode. After a short time in video mode it stops recording by itself.
Any help is very much appreciated
Hi,
I also encountered issue with screen. In my case the screen shows negative colours. Did you find solution for your problem?
Best Regards

Hello,
While the camera is on car mode, recording, i press the mode button , the key appears on the left side of the display but the video isn’t protected. I tried it and when i arrived home after 4 hours driving there was no protected video(i noticed that when the camera isn’t in car auto mode i press the mode button when recording a video and it is changing the name of the video. Again this isn’t happening in car mode 🙁 Greetings from Romania 🙂
What are the steps to update the firmware on my lightdow LD 4000 DV?
Thanks, Jim
I’m sorry but that’s a different camera. I can’t help you with that one. Best of luck.
Hello
I have the sjcam 5000x elite. When i set my settings and put the date stamp off i can make movies without the date stamp. But when i turn off and just turn on the camera and i make a video again the stamp is on my video. So i always need to put the stamp of manualy in the settings before making a video? Please can someone give some advice to keep my settings when i turn of my cam?
I just purchased sjcam5000x elite, every time I changed the battery the date and time resets to default.
Pls. Help!
Don’t think you can change that that’s an issue not sorted out yet.
Hi..Can you please answer a question that I cannot find an answer to anywhere on the `net ??.
How do I zoom on the sj4000wifi ?.The “up” button only switches on/off the wifi.
Thanks for any help..
Leon

I have bought a SJCAM 4000 wifi, i see it have videolapes mode, but i can not use that mode. When i try to take a video with that mode, SJCAM app display “There is no real time flow in this mode”. How to fix it? Please help me, thanks!
I’ve never encountered that problem with my SJ4000. I can only suggest that you contact SJCam Customer Support. http://support.sjcamhd.com/support/home
Hi, i have the same problem with sjcam10+ app. Did you find a solution?
Hi, I have been havinga prolem with transfering videos from this device. It seems as though the video I wish to transfer is “protected” as indication with the key on the top right of the screen when viewed on the camera. The video file is showing up perfectly fine on the camera, however is nowhere to be seen when connected vie USB or SD to my computer.
Your help is appreciated
A protected file should only be protected from deletion (except when formatting the memory card) so it should transfer okay. I’ve never encountered this problem before. You might try contacting SJCam support and see if they can help. http://support.sjcamhd.com/support/home
Hi my SJ4000 always records by itself once i start the camera. then it stops and records again by itself. how can i fix that? Thanks!
I remember this happened to me when I turned motion detection, try that.
I have SJ5000x And my old videos suddenly disapears from my file while the lates are not.. what’s happening with my camera and how do i recover the lost videos?
Hi. I just purchased a SJ4000 wifi an am trying to figure out how the loop recording work. The manual states to set it to Auto, In my settings, it only has Off, 3, 5, and 19 minutes to select. I want to be able to record continuously.
Thank you!!!!
I also just updated to the latest firmware version V1.6.
I haven’t tried the latest firmware so it’s possible the problem lies there. You should indeed be able to choose among 3, 5 or 10 minutes or choose Off to record continuously. You might try SJCam support and see if they can offer any insight. http://support.sjcamhd.com/support/home
Seems that in the Car Mode, once the SD card is full, the camera deletes ALL the videos and begins anew.
Tried recovery, but could not.
I would better have the camera overwrite the oldest files, as required.
How to do that?
Hi i have purchased SJCAM 5000x on October 2016. It was working fine till yesterday but today when i turned on the camera, i am just getting a green screen and couldn’t able to go through any options and am getting a shutter sounds at times. I don’t know how to fix it. Kindly help.
hi
hope you can help
my daughter is using the camera underwater when she takes a picture the camera zooms automatically do you have any ideas
it doesent do it out of water
Hi david parkinson. I’ve never heard of this behavior before. It might be the way the camera is being held. Perhaps she is inadvertently pressing the side button. Beyond that I’m afraid I don’t have any suggestions. Cheers.
good day! i just want to ask what seems to be the problem if my SJCAM isn’t turning on and have a steady amber light when i try to turn it on? how can i fix this problem? can u pls help me w/ this? tnx in advance ^_^
Hi I am using SJ5000x wifi…please advise how can i check my memory card free space in the cam.. what happen while recording if the space got full the cam deleting old files and keep recording.
That would only happen if you have loop recording turned ON. If it’s of no files will be deleted, it will simply stop recording and tell you that the memory card is full. I can’t remember, but on top of my head, you should be able to check the free space somewhere in the settings.
Hello I have a sj4000 and the camera won’t turn on and only the red lights will turn on do you know what I can do
Hi I have the same problem. I didn’t see a reply to this. Anyone have any suggestions ? SJCAM won’t turn on. Only a red light appears when it’s plugged in
Hi, sorry to hear you have problems with the camera. Please try cleaning the battery contacts, make sure the battery is charged, and re-try. If that doesn’t change anything, contact the Support at https://sjcam.com/support/

I am interested in purchasing a m10 camera Wifi. Can you tell me if it is a good choice and the problems with m10 and the good points with the m10. My main concern is using motion detect mode. Sensing a movable object in the camera sight.
I would appreciate all the info I can get before purchasing the m10 Wifi camera.
Thanks
Mv
I really don’t understand what’s the question here? It’s stated in a review if it’s a good choice or not, just read the text.

Hi, recently when in playback mode my sj cam says “no file”, but when I plug the sd card into my laptop the videos are available to watch, any ideas why this is happening? I’m happy that the camera is still recording but it would be nice to still be able to preview videos on the sjcam screen. Cheers
Hi, I just received the sj4000 as a gift and it seems to be stuck on record. I believe it is because the motion detection is stuck on but I have no access to the “mode” options! What can I do to turn it off to get to the other features of the camera?
Happened once to me. Keep the camera still do not shake it and press mode button quickly. Takes time to get it right. Provided that your issue is motion detection, turn it off. Videos can get stuck because of poor quality memory card also.
Is there a recommended Memory Card for the SJ4000 ?
SanDisk 32GB Extreme. Sorry for the term but GoPro recommends this card for their cameras.
Thank You So Much.
Rich Q
Hi, Richard!
Some manufacturers recommend certain capacity limits for the memory cards used with specific models of their cameras, but I haven’t seen none yet to set limits to the card read/write speed. Thus, I’d say go for the fastest data transfer speed you can (especially Write).
There are some cards which carry V in their speed descript which stands for Video. This usually means these have been designed for high writing speeds, and those should be preferred.
As to the SD Extreme 32GB, I’m using one of those too, and it works well.
Wish you Good Light!

Hi, I bought a scam 5000 for my son. When he records anything, the screen goes black after 1 minute! Any ideas?
Thanks, Paul.
Hi, Paul, and what did you expect from a SCAM 5000?
I’m kidding, of course!
As to your problem… the first idea is, maybe the screen is set to switch off in 1 minute so as to save power? Check the settings, make changes as needed… should be ok.
Otherwise, do contact SJCAM Support!
Best Regards, and Good Light!
How do you update sj4000. My rotate button doesn,t seem to change the screen. Screen appears upside down all the time.
Hi, Jack. Go here: http://support.sjcam.com/support/solutions/folders/9000065704 to find the proper latest firmware for your SJ4000, download the correct version for your model, and follow the instructions to update. Then switch the camera off, on again, and test the screen functions. Should be OK. If not, contact Support for further information. It is quite impossible for us to diagnose and/or reproduce the problem, so that’s about the best advice we can offer.
Have a Good Light!
Hello, I’ve tried to used my SJCam4000 as dash cam, set car mode on. When I start the car, it’s powers up, but instead of starting recording, it’s end up in mode select (USB storage or Webcam mode).
Is there any tricks to fix that?
HI, Flam… your User’s Manual shoud be clear and informative enough about this. However, I’ve found for you another source which I’ll partly copy/paste for you here, so you can compare the procedures (courtesy of https://hubpages.com/technology/How-To-Set-Up-Your-SJ4000-As-A-Dash-Cam )
c/p
“SJ4000 Camera Dash Cam Mode”
[…] “Now you want to go into your settings in your SJ4000 and correctly set up for dash cam recording. To get into the settings just press the power button on the front of the camera until you reach the settings page. Now scroll through until you find “car mode”. Select car mode and then select the on button to enable car mode. This will make it so that it will write over old footage when the SD card is full. So don’t forget to download the footage straight away to computer if you capture some good footage.” […]
Hope it helps!
Hi, I recently purchased sjcam4000 wifi, but it didn’t had mini HDMI port like the others previous models. Now I’m worried that it might be fake. Can you please confirm if it’s a genuine product or not.
Thanks you.
Hi, you could check it yourself, I think, via the SJCAM web page – just look here: https://sjcam.com/security-check/
Enjoy your camera – whatever the check results show!
I have a SJ9000 and have a external 3.5 inch hard drive case. I will use a 1 TB sata. I are not familiar with the upload procedure. Can you advise me please

Hi,
I’ve had a genuine sjcam4000 wifi for a little while now and I must say I am happy with it once I figured out how to use it and thanks to this site for helping out!!
I only have one question – I use the cam for snowboarding videos which I keep short at 3 minutes each for sharing purposes.
The fastest way is to download the video via the app and then share it with my friends via whatsapp.
The problem is that when sharing on whatsapp the sound dissappears??
Once downloaded to my phone I can watch and hear the video just fine on google photos or vlc but when I share it the sound is gone!
Am I missing something? Anyone else experience this?
Thanks
My SJ cam won’t turn on after I turned it off while charging it. I tried removing the battery and turning it on again but still the same. What seem to be the problem?
